Important Tips for Writing a Resume

Writing a resume can seem to be easy but it requires lot of points that need to be considered. Candidates spend substantial time in preparing themselves for the interview but forget to devote appropriate time to their important document, which will make their image and last a first impression. A candidate should always keep in mind that it is the resume that will first present you in front of interviewer. Here in this blog, we have come up with tips for writing a resume and these tips are surely going to help you and make the interviewer impressed with the document:

•    First point is your CV presentation. A resume that is presented well is the resume that gains high marks. For proper presentation, plan a rough structure for your document and look at it from the interviewer point of view. By this, you will able to judge out the pros and cons of the document that you are preparing.

•    Interviewer expects to see all the details that should be there, order wise and professionally written. Keep in mind the professionalism should be your top priority. Content should neither be written in casual manner nor irrelevant points should be discussed. Spend time with each point that you are printing in the document.

•    A good bio-data puts light on skills, contributions, achievements, and qualifications. Create a special column for each and highlight every point in detail, so that interviewer gets a complete idea about your skills, achievements, or particular point that you want to mention in it.

•    Do not forget to include your area of expertise or industry knowledge that you have. You must add on your plus point only, adding negative points may give negative impression in the first round itself. So do not mention your weak points, instead at the time of one-on-one discussion, you can say it in a diplomatic manner.

•    Next point that comes in is the sentence structure. Make sure that what you are writing is described in a short, simple, and concise manner. A reader should easily understand what you want to convey by it. Sentences should be small and well formed, so that a reader can read and understand them clearly.

•    Your career history should not be duplicate and have proper documents that prove your skills. Duplicity or false statements in the document can directly reject you without even looking at your valid qualifications or skills.

•    Make a separate page that discuss about personal features i.e. your birth date, family background, hobbies, parental details, etc.

•    Try to make your bio-data look simple and professional. Do not add on creativity, make it in simple format, keep the font size same in the entire document, make headings bold, and underline the points that you feel are important and want the interviewer to notice.
